Sermon Title: Get Stuck to the Vine(Pipii I le Vine)

Text: John 15:5–7

Introduction

Jesus uses the picture of a vine and branches to show our absolute dependence on Him.

In life, many people try to “make it” on their own strength—career, relationships, even spirituality—but apart from Christ, it all withers.

How many times have you tried to succeed but it’s never fulfilling.

Having lots and lots of money is not success how do I know….

If it was no one would be working right now…..ask yourself why are millionaires still looking or working for more money. Because it never ends.

The dictionary says that Success means to fulfilling a purpose money is the opposite it keeps going and going it’s never fulfilling.

Our calling you and me as believers is to stay connected—stuck—to Jesus, because He is the True Vine and the true fulfillment of life.

Question is Why do we need to get stuck to the Vine….?

Main Points

1. The Source of Life is in the Vine (John 15:5)

“I am the vine, you are the branches.

If you remain in me and I in you,

you will bear much fruit; - Matthew 7:17-20

apart from me you can do nothing.”

  • The branch has no life of its own.
  • It only lives as long as it is connected to the Vine.

Sorry but you can’t not say you are stuck to Vine but you be doing UNVINE STUFF.

THE REASON WHY WE ARE IN NEED TO BE STUCK IS BECAUSE WE CANT LIVE WITHOUT THE VINE.

TO MANY PEOPLE GET UNSTUCK BECAUSE OF THERE OWN PERSONAL AGENDAS, BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY CAN LIVE WITHOUT BEING STUCK TO LIFE WHICH IS THE VINE.

BUT AS SOON AS THEY START GASPING FOR AIR BECAUSE THEY ARE SO DEEP IN SIN AND RUNING OUT OF AIR…..THEY WANT TO GET STUCK AGAIN TO THE VINE

IF YOU WANT TO LOVE GET STUCK TO VINE…..

TO MANY PEOPLE THINK AND ACT THEY ARE STUCK TO VINE, BUT ITS SAD TO SAY THEY DO NOT DO WHAT THE VINE REQUIRES US TO DO.

Application: YOU AND ME ARE NOTHING Without JESUS, our prayers are empty, our work is powerless, and our lives bear no eternal fruit.

2. Staying Stuck to the Vine Produces Fruit (John 15:5b)

O le Pi'imau i le Vine e Maua ai Fua

    • Fruits are the evidence of being stuck to the vine

Galatians 5:22–23 – the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc.) grows only when we are stuck to the vine which is Christ.

    • We can’t bear Love, Joy, Peace, kindness, faithfulness, self control, gentleness if we are not stuck to the Vine No No No…..
    • Do you ever wonder why people keep coming back to the vine?
    • Because you can’t find true love when you are not stuck to the vine
    • You can fine true peace, true kindness…… how many times have you been told I love you to a person but the same person is stabbing you back.
    • You even Showed kindness those people but never got it back……
    • All that is happening because you are disconnected or unstuck from the vine.
    • Matthew 7:17-20 again…
  • Matthew’s says every good tree bears good fruit but every bad tree bears bad fruits.
  • Matthew also says a Good tree cannot bear bad fruits
  • Or a bad tree bear good fruits
  • Then Matthew addresses the most important thing HE SAY EVERY TREE THAT DOES NOT BEAR GOOD FRUITS IS CUT AND THROWN INTO THE FIRE.
  • SEE HERE HE DIDN’T SAY BRANCHES HE said TREE…
  • VERSE 20 says the only WAY we CAN KNOW YOU ARE STUCK to the vine IS BY OUR FRUITS.
    • You cannot bear bad fruit while you are stuck to the vine
    • Because the vine does not produce bad fruits.
    • But you will definitely bear bad fruits if you are not stuck to the vine.

Psalm 1:3“He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.”

Application: evaluate ourselves, how by Checking your fruits daily, is it aligning with vine?

What’s growing in your life that shows whether you are stuck to the Vine or drifting away.

3. Without the Vine, There is Spiritual Death (John 15:6)

“If anyone does not remain in me,

    • he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers.”

A cut branch might look alive for a short time, but eventually it dries up.

    • Spiritual death is far worse than death…because spiritual death is eternity. When you are spiritually dead you have no eternity.

But there is life after death because your spirit belongs to God

But if you are not stuck to the vine then your spirit belongs hell.

Romans 6:23“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.”

Application: Disconnection may not look serious at first, but over time, it leads to emptiness, withering, and separation from God.

4. Abiding in the Vine Brings Answered Prayer (John 15:7)

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

Abiding changes our desires so that our prayers align with God’s will.

1 John 5:14–15“If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

Application: The secret to powerful prayer isn’t fancy words—it’s staying stuck to the Vine which is Jesus.

Verse 8 say, our Father is Glorified If we Bear much Fruits, and being a disciples requires us to Bear Fruits.

May you be blessed in His Word and May this sermon help you in your journey In living a life as a Believer Of Christ and His Gospels.
